Personalized Publicity

Every writer knows that publicity can be hard to come by. There are so many words floating around the cosmos and so few ears that chose to hear, let alone eyes to read! But check out what Lutheran novelist Katie Schuermann is doing for her next release: personalized publicity at its best!

Enter to Win

Katie has recently announced on her blog that eight individuals will win a spot in a reading group in Katie’s own house, with Katie’s own charming self, and Katie’s own third book in the Anthems of Zion series, The Harvest Raise. The dates are Friday, November 18th through Sunday, November 20th. Participants will attend a private meet-and-greet reception and reading session from 6:00-9:00 p.m on that Friday evening, a reading session from 8:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Saturday, and a reading/discussion group session from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Food and drinks are provided, though each participant will be responsible for getting his/herself to and from the reading group as well as providing his/her own lodgings. So, especially if you live around Illinois-ish area (I think), her blog post is here.

To enter you simply contact her here, including:

  1. Your name, address, and phone number,
  2. Church,
  3. Current life’s vocation,
  4. Which character you most relate to in the Anthems of Zion series,
  5. And why you should get to sit in one of those chairs.
Winners will be announced on November 1st.
Now that is personalized publicity! Smart thinking, Katie! And happy visiting!

  1. Very cool and very fun–not to mention cost effective. That Katie is a wise woman.

  2. It is a cool thing to do. Katie did this with her first two novels as well. The benefit to the writer is that she or he can hear anything that causes the reader to pause or question and then revise. The end result is a near-perfect manuscript!
