Sigh

I’m happy to recount for you the many ways I think writing in general is good for our various callings. I think writing can literally improve vocational service on multiple levels. However, if anyone has any tips on how to keep from being short with others when one’s writing focus is hard to turn off but other vocational duties come to call . . . let me know. Sigh.

What doesn’t help is that I really want to finish reading a book, too!

The Cursed Jesus: A Shared Idea

Today I want to share an idea for a book: the cursed Jesus. I think it could be marvelous! Not only could it explore the terms for curse in Scripture, tracing out so much in the Old Testament that illustrates how Jesus took our curse(s) upon Himself upon the tree, but it could go face to face with Scripture often shied away from.

Today is the release day for The Messengers: Revealed! Woo hoo! This is the third and final book in The Messengers trilogy by Lisa M. Clark, CPH editor and author extraordinaire. It’s dystopian suitable for probably middle school on up.

Looking forward to reading it, Lisa!

The Relic Master

Hi. I don’t usually use my blog as a forum for general book recommendations. You know, I thought I might as well reserve the space for Lutherans. But I’m making an exception for this one: The Relic Master.

Called to Defend

Christians are called to defend the faith. Saint Paul put it beautifully when he described himself as “put here for the defense of the gospel” (Philippians 1:16b). But that doesn’t mean we can’t benefit from guidance and support, not only for ourselves but for all ages. So please welcome onto the scene Valerie Locklair and her first book, Called to Defend: An Apologetics Handbook for the Middle School Student.

Lutheran presence on Twitter

Ever wonder about the Lutheran presence on Twitter? I’m sure there are more than I can count, but here is the start of a list of Lutheran writers (fiction or non-fiction), journalists, pundits, etc.,  on Twitter. It can go along with my list of Living Lutheran AuthorsFree Lutheran ResourcesLutheran Publishing Houses & Journals, Lutheran Writers’ Blog Roll, and the compilation of podcasts, etc., available at Lutheran Audio Review.

Surely we’ve got things pretty well covered now, right?

Please do let me know if I’m missing someone as I’m happy to add. Just, um, please don’t expect me to know who is both popular and orthodox to Lutheranism in the twitterverse. I don’t live there. 🙂
