Help Church Worker Wellness

This post is particularly for LCMS church workers or their families about a project that may be able to help us all, rostered or otherwise. 🙂 Heidi Goehmann is helping to put together a collection of 30 free devotions to help church worker wellness within the LCMS. There will be a  synod church worker wellness site offering them as free PDFs and then everyone can benefit! The premise is worker-to-worker, hence the restriction on who writes for it.

You know I how love free resources. Could you find just a little time and inspiration to put something together?
The deadline is August 5th with just a little wiggle room. The topic should help church worker wellness in one of the following areas:
  • Spiritual Wellness
  • Intellectual Wellness
  • Physical Wellness
  • Relational Wellness
  • Emotional Wellness
  • Financial Wellness
  • Vocational Wellness
Now, listen up. No one is saying or arguing in any way that wellness is some idol we should bow down to. Quite the contrary! What is Law and Gospel for our intellect, finances, fitness, etc.? Where is Jesus in relation to your church workers and your alone time? Because if you think He is only there with Law, Law, Law, you are solely mistaken and perhaps should look forward to the devotions being written right now for your sake. What is a correct understanding to help church worker wellness?
Don’t do this for glory (because there isn’t any). All devotions will be an anonymous gift to the church. Instead, if you are rostered or related to someone rostered, do this in love toward your neighbor and set your mind on Christ and His Word:
to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. (Ephesians 4:12-14, ESV)
Tossed to and fro by wind and waves? Me too, and so is my pastor husband. But maybe if you look at a situation or struggle, face it in the eye equipped with the Mind of Christ, you can help others who are blowing around too.
Or, looking for writing practice? Here you go! And, whether or not you can submit it for publication, you can search out the Law and Gospel for yourself and your loved ones. (Maybe I can publish it here as a guest post!)
If you are interested, email Heidi at ilovemyshepherd.com @ gmail.com. Or go through her I Love My Shepherd website.
Any other free resources you’d like developed? Let me know so I can spread word about it, online and off. 🙂 This could be an age of church resources!
