A novel about Luther’s Reformation

Look what has a landing page and sample online!!! Sarah Baughman‘s A Flame in the Dark: A Novel about Luther’s Reformation!

I’m really dreaming big about this one. THIS could be the novel I’ve always wanted from CPH. I’m excited about the topic, the approach, and I’m thrilled to know that I already enjoy Sarah’s historical fiction from her other books, Penelope’s Hope and Violet’s Daybreakeven though historical fiction isn’t typically my genre of choice.

You can preorder A Flame in the Dark from Amazon, but it isn’t released yet. I’m hopeful it will be early June so it can be part of my summer reading challenge! Amazon lists the release date as June 12th.Woo hoo!

Here’s the Amazon blurb to give you a more specific idea about the book:

Heinrich is a student at the University of Wittenberg, studying under Dr. Martin Luther. When this professor posts 95 Theses challenging the Catholic Church, the lives of the people in Wittenberg – including his students – are changed forever.

Readers will connect with the characters, identify with their struggles, and, ultimately, see how God’s Word works amid all of life’s messy complications, no matter our place in history.

I’ll also cross my fingers that CPH offers it as a GoodReads giveaway, since I’ve noticed them doing that more often these days. If I notice, I’ll be sure to let you know. Yay!

Happy reading & book planning in all its forms!

  1. I’m super-excited, too, Mary! Thanks for sharing here! 🙂 Can’t wait for everyone to “meet” Heinrich, Marlein, Brigita, and the gang…though I suppose that’s not a terribly accurate term, history-wise. 😉
