Norman Nagel

Norman Nagel has been a tremendous blessing to the church, particularly the Lutheran church in the United States. No matter what I would say, or how I could say it, it would be an understatement. He is amongst the greatest Lutheran theologians of this time, and the Lord has called him home at the age of 94.

I hardly know what to say. You can go here, to Eyes of Life, for one introduction.

If you ever need a book of sermons, I highly recommend his. I took it with me when I spent a summer interning in Latvia. Though I learned enough Latvian to follow along with the liturgy some, Norman Nagel ensured I had the Gospel.

To hear him and his own voice, visit his archive with Issues, Etc. and KFUO.

His numerous articles, essays, are more are available from Concordia Theological Seminary, Concordia Seminary, Logia, 1517, etc. And, to learn more about his legacy and emphasis upon Christ and His gifts, there is the festschrift in his honor: Dona Gratis Donata: Essays in Honor of NOrman Nagel on the Occasion of His Ninetieth Birthday.

(Edited to add: Here’s another one!

Well done, good and faithful servant.
