Christ and Calamity

Hal Senkbeil’s latest, Christ and Calamity: Grace and Gratitude in the Darkest Valleyis a great and (on Kindle) SUPER INEXPENSIVE BOOK for our times!

Rev. Dr. Hal Senkbeil is a pastor to pastors, often teaching on the pastoral arts of spiritual care and, through Doxology: The Lutheran Center for Spiritual Care and Counsel, caring for the men who so often are without pastors of their own.

So to speak. Let’s not discuss whether pastors have pastors. But Dr. Senkbeil is great! That’s my point. He is a men among men and a large-hearted servant of Christ, whose written several books on soul care and tensions in a Christian life.

His latest, Christ and Calamity: Grace and Gratitude in the Darkest Valleyaddresses suffering and uncertainty. It offers some very interesting comforts in these days of the pandemic and teaches some things about suffering that far more Christians ought to know.

For a Kindle price of $.99 it’s pretty amazing! Easily something to recommend to the great many folks who are hardly leaving their houses! Especially suitable for people going through a difficult time or transition. Someone with a chronic condition may resonate less with learning to lament and finding things, even during intense pain, to be thankful for. But that will depend on the individual.

Great book. Christ and calamity may both be with us, but Christ conquers!

Here’s a link to what my dad had to say about it.
