Ashes to Ashes

Ladies and gentlemen, I know my posts are few and far between. Still, today here’s a quick review of Rev. Christopher Thoma‘s latest book, Ashes to Ashes (Some spoilers.).

Ashes to Ashes is a well-written thriller about an LCMS pastor tempted to vigilantism. Well-written, well-paced, I read it all in my first day of vacation. Descriptions are on point. A bit gory. Psychologically well-developed. I loved all the Lutheran references!! I would not give this to someone tempted to vigilantism: too much violence exists in this world already. I would not give this to church growthers. However, I would give this to any LCMSers who enjoy a good thriller or crime novel. Really enjoyable read. Great work from a great writer.

Next Pastoral Planner

Hello, everyone,

I know I hardly ever post, but I’ve just finished the next pastoral planner, available for sale on Lulu:

https://www.lulu.com/shop/cranach-independent-press/pastoral-planner-2026/paperback/product-p6jgevg.html?page=1&pageSize=4

It’s super similar to last year’s, though I added a maroon cover.

Consider getting it for your pastor. 🙂 It runs from Advent 2025 through the end of 2026.
