On Hold
I forget if I’ve mentioned this, but I’ve sought out another agent. That means I’ve entered another period of waiting even though I had previously planned to submit a new proposal February 1st! What was I thinking?! I feel like I’ve put myself on hold!

There is Time
Ladies and gentlemen, a gentle reminder that there is time: time to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. There is time to slow down so you can catch your temper. There is time to get away and be by yourself, even if it’s just a few extra moments in the bathroom, 😉 And, there is time to think through a few sentences to try to make them beautiful, clever, succinct, or whatever other goal you may have for your writing.

Choose Your Own Adventure
There are two real problems with living life like a Choose Your Own Adventure series. First, it cultivates what if’s/regret/uncertainty/endless possibilities for overthinking. Second, who would EVER choose to clean their bathroom? It’s just not realistic and, frankly, self-centered.
So many great choices! Good! But, welp, gotta pay attention to all those non-adventures, too.
A happy weekend to you, reading, writing, editing, formatting, cleaning, etc. I’m optimistic I’ll finish up Pilgrim’s Progress. 🙂 And, lots of cleaning.

Build a Culture
I visited my folks and caught a glimpse of the Masterpiece Theater show Victoria. It looked quite good, and there was a lovely scene of a young Victoria singing while her husband tries to accompany her on piano. It struck me just how much culture and entertainment have changed. So I ask you, if you could, how would– or could–you build a culture differently within your family? Neighborhood? Novel?!
Stoned
A bit of free verse today, inspired in part by last Sunday’s Bible study. (Yep–it’s still on my mind.) I tried to follow both literal and figurative stones in Scripture to that Stone who was, in a sense, stoned into His tomb and then resurrected to be the Cornerstone, the Living Stone and Rock of our Salvation.

Escapism
It’s my blog and I can elaborate if I want to. 😉 Yesterday I suggested that writing can be the opposite of escapism, so I thought I’d explore that a little more today.

Writing Idolatry
I find Bible study to be very provocative in a possible sense. It gets my juices flowing, seeing new connections to God’s mercy and fulfillments of prophecies. And, it just so happens that when your brain starts to work, sometimes it continues! Yay! I often find myself scribbling down notes and ideas in between Bible study and church as I ponder from that productive state of mind. What Bible study brought up today, however–in my mind at least, is whether I succumb to writing idolatry.

About Blogging
This January has been a time of mad-multitasking for me. I’m decluttering, recluttering, and generally puttering around every major thought or project I set eyes on. 🙂 I’ve been in Scripture more, writing up a proposal for a finalized children’s text, restructuring our homeschooling & content, and even dabbling into resources about blogging.
