Deaconess Cheryl D. Naumann is a woman I greatly respect and admire and she’s published another book! A Century of Consecration: A Collection of Sermons Preached at the Consecration, Commissioning or Installation of Deaconesses sounds great and, you know, self-explanatory. 🙂
As you can probably gather, it has been a century of consecration and service by deaconesses in the United States. I’m thankful to God that I can be a part of it as a deaconess in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod!
Cheryl also wrote In the Footsteps of Phoebe: A Complete History of the Deaconess Movement in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Do I even need to say that Lutherans understand deaconess work in a different way than Methodists and other denominations?
Now serving in a missionary capacity with her husband, Jonathan, she’s also edited the book, From Ghosts to God in Enga Land: Planting His Church Among the Enga People of Central Papua New Guinea.
