I saw a neat article from The Gospel Coalition on the effects of audience. It’s called How to Gain and Audience and Lose Your Soul and had some stunning examples of folks who have gone too far, possibly without even realizing it.
Now, with the ever-decreasing number of blog readers and my ever-consistent avoidance of putting myself on YouTube, I daresay I’m not in too much of a danger of seeking viral status. Still, I thought there was a wholesome point within the article’s warnings. As writers, we can write for those we admire.
That approach encourages us to strive and grow. Not only would we then do our best, but we are more likely to build up the profession and various types of literacy. Win, win.
