My Review of God’s Own Child, I Gladly Say It
It was a great idea to pair a masterful hymn text with child-friendly illustrations. This is a beautiful book and appeals to all six of my children. In fact, my eight year old likes to sleep with it near the head of her bed. She reads through it, sings through it, looks through the nice artwork, and, basically, commandeers it in earnest appreciation. Don’t worry—the rest of our kids will get quality time with it, too!
In fact, that’s one of the things that really appeals to me about this book. It’s rhythmic enough to satisfy a fussy baby, but soothing enough to calm an older upset heart of any age. It is the type of book that gives a child room to grow and an adult a landscape of beneficial conversation topics. God’s Own Child lends the reader a voice and clarity on the blessings and strengths of Christian baptism, even as introduces language and song that can be sung for a lifetime. I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but this book will help our children grow up in the values, familial language, and practices of the Church!
God’s own child, I gladly say it! And so do my children! I am so thankful that this book is available and that I heard about it. You can consider me a big fan and be sure that I’ll encourage its use any way I can.
Get it for children, nieces/ nephews, grandchildren, god-children, Sunday school teachers, pastors, DCEs, youth leaders, church quiet bags, and church libraries! This should become a classic, useful for many generations to come!
