Friends, I know who is the new Lutheran Witness editor!!!! And I’m thrilled!!
It is Rev. Roy Askins!
Since I’d paraphrase it so closely it’d be plagarism, here’s an official blurb about him:
He’s been serving the Lord as a career missionary through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Taiwan. Roy is the Communications Manager for the Asia Pacific and the Southern Asia and Oceania regions. He works with other LCMS personnel serving in these regions to communicate the Gospel through social and other media outlets. He helps to share the story of what God is doing through LCMS personnel, partner church bodies and all believers, using print media, video, social media and the Internet. These resources are used to enlighten the church worldwide and encourage LCMS congregations and members to pray for and consider supporting those serving in these regions and around the world.
I absolutely could not be happier! He’s a great guy: faithful, funny, articulate, thoughtful, diligent, experienced with writing, grammar, and life, etc. I even super duper like his wife and kids. 🙂
Here is his family’s missionary page on LCMS.org. Please do pray for them as it will be a big transition back to the states and to the Lutheran Witness. Bless them, Eliza is 30-weeks pregnant so they need to either hurry up and move or find themselves unable to take the long flight together! He’ll start January 1st.
What a gift to the church! Yippee!
