Friday Hymn Fest!

Friday Hymn Fest tomorrow! I’m pretty excited about this news. 🙂 Dr. Scott Hyslop, Director of Parish Music at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth, Michigan, is offering a Friday hymn festival tomorrow and guess what he’s going to play . . . and for how long!

The Friday Hymn Fest will include  . . . the entirety of the hymn sections from Lutheran Service Book! For most of the day!!! Or at least a good chunk of it, starting at 8am Eastern.

Here’s the blurb going around Facebook:

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to hear EVERY hymn in the Lutheran Service Book?? Well, here’s your chance!

You are invited to tune into the “virtual” hymn fest to end all hymn fests this Friday, April 24th from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm live from St. Lorenz Lutheran Church!

Dr. Scott Hyslop will put on his running shoes at 8:00 am and start with the first hymn in the Lutheran Service Book and isn’t going to stop until he gets to the other end of the book!

Here is how it will work. You will either turn on Facebook Live, stlorenz.org, or Channel 191. Dr. Hyslop will play an introduction to each hymn and then play the first and last stanza of each hymn in LSB UNLESS you would like to hear a hymn in its entirety! If you would like to hear an entire hymn presented or, if there is a hymn you LOVE that isn’t in LSB you can email Dr. Hyslop at [email protected] before 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 23rd.

If you care to use this event as an opportunity to make a gift in support of Music at St. Lorenz your gift, no matter how small or large, will be gratefully received!

Please join us for this musical marathon of praise this Friday, April 24th at 8:00 am! www.stlorenz.org

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of LSB and this is as good a time as any to remind you there is even a Kindle version! Get out your hard copy or grab this electric version and follow along. 🙂 First and last stanzas, unless all stanzas are requested TODAY (Thursday) via email.

This Friday Hymn Fest is going to be great for so many people and on so many levels! I’m tempted to cancel all our regular homeschool lessons so we can all sing along!!!

What a great gift. And to work through lunch! Ha ha, he’ll deserve a great Frankenmuth fried chicken dinner afterwards!
