Lutheran author Rev. Dr. Matthew Richard, whom you may know from his first book, Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up? released his next book, Minute Messages: Gospel-Filled Devotions for Every Occasion yesterday.

Yay yay yay! I’m especially excited to tell you about this new release: Alan Kornacki’s Rejoice, O Zion! Sing! Hymns for the Lutheran Service Book One-Year Lectionary and Other Occasions!
A blessed Reformation week to you! Here in Oklahoma we’re having some early winter weather. I pray everyone stays safe & warm! And, if possible, I wish you a cup of something warm and a good book! Speaking of which, this month Just and Sinner released two more reprints: True Christianity: Book I & Book II by Johann Arndt.
I’ve been back in the throes of writing poetry, so you’ll pardon me if I keep things a bit short and extra even-keeled over here. 🙂 Back in February, I posted a piece on church worker wellness resources. Well, I hadn’t gotten to say that there was an LCMS project to provide online devotions for church workers on areas of vocational, relational, financial, and emotional wellness.
I wasn’t late posting about 2018 Advent Resources, although I did mean to blog today’s titles sooner. This year I thought I’d try to tackle some additional devotional reading, and the two titles are The Soul in Paraphrase: A Treasury of Classic Devotional Poems, edited by Leland Ryken, and With My Own Eyes, a third-person retelling of the Gospels by none other than Lutheran bishop extraordinaire Bo Giertz, translated by LCMS Rev. Bror Erickson!
I’ve blogged about Lutheran pastor Gaven Mize a number of times, highlighting books like God Loves me Such, My Little ABC Liturgy Book, My Little ABC Coloring Liturgy Book, and Beauty and Catechesis. Now he’s offering another: an advent devotional titled Awake, You Who Sleep: The Advent of the Christ.
