The Twelve Days of Christmas Review
This was a clever idea. Whether or not the carol famous for a partridge in a pear tree was once intended for Christian subterfuge, John Hoh has put together a nice collection of thoughts about numbers in Scripture so we can remember God’s blessings whenever we hear that piece.
It is thoughtful but not exhaustive (so don’t expect every answer for every number in the Good Book), interesting but not overly academic.
Frankly, although I read this in a single sitting, it may be most suited to starting on Christmas and reading one number for each day of the Christmas season.
The chapters aren’t long. The content is wholesome & creedal, and there are certainly many Scripture passages to keep us focused on the gifts of Christ and His incarnation for us, His beloved Church.
Lutherans will also appreciate things like Hoh’s attention regarding Law and Gospel. 🙂
