The Fires of Autumn
As my eight-year old has already remarked, we’ve already had great weather to cozy up near a fire under a blanket with a book. One of my latest reads has been The Fires of Autumn by Lutheran author Rhonda Chandler, a piece of historical fiction that warmed me in several ways. My review is below.

My First Exorcism
I’m not a dark person, but I do think that Christians in particular should remember that darkness, evil, and the devil are very real. (I’ll let you in on a neat something I heard: never capitalize names for devil. He doesn’t deserve it.) So, today I’ll add another review to my growing list on that topic: My First Exorcism: What the Devil Taught a Lutheran Pastor about Counter-cultural Spirituality by Lutheran Rev. Dr. Harold Ristau, foreword by Lutheran Rev. Dr. John W. Kleinig.
Vocation and Wellness
Today’s post is a review of Lutheran (medical) Dr. John D. Eckrich‘s
first book, Vocation and Wellness: Renew Your Energy for Christian Living. And, by first book, I mean first of three! Well done, Dr. Eckrich!

Come In, We’re Closed
Another big release day! Rev. Tyrel Bramwell, author of the novel The Gift and the Defender, commentary of Finding the Truth in Story (Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Vol. 1), and new children’s book The World of the Wazzlewoods, has added an important voice to conversation about Closed Communion in Come in, We’re Closed.
Soldier On
Today is a big release day for my friend, Lutheran author Vanessa Rasanen! She’s a great friend, blogger, and sometime journalist. Plus, you know, there’s her family and job and being married into the Army. Her debut novel, releasing today, is Soldier On (Hearts on Guide Book 1)

Bless This Mess
Today’s post is a review on Lutheran Lori Ehlke‘s first book, as author and illustrator no less (!), Bless This Mess. To sum up briefly, it blessed this mess, which is me.

Nightrage Rising
Apparently the way to get me to review books quickly is to gear them toward my kiddos. 🙂 So, P.S. Broaddus, both I and my eldest thank you for writing, and today I’ll follow up last week’s review of A Hero’s Curse with a review on Nightrage Rising (The Unseen Chronicles, Volume 2).

A Hero’s Curse
Today, I intended to post about theological poets, but that has to be postponed. I’d like my dad’s feedback on it, but he’s off traveling. Meanwhile, I introduced P.S. Broaddus just over a week ago, and now I’m ready to review the first book in his series, A Hero’s Curse (The Unseen Chronicles Book 1).
The Unholy Trinity
Ages ago it seems, I mentioned a new release and I’ve finally gotten around to reading it:
The Unholy Trinity: Martin Luther Against the Idol of Me, Myself, and I by Rev. Dr. Michael A. Lockwood, an Aussie/ LCA pastor who received his doctorate through Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. In short, this book is absolutely fantastic.
